AGO First Thursday celebrating the 10th edition of Scotiabank Nuit Blanche (produced by the City of Toronto) was definitely something worth going to. We got a glimpse into the all night art event that happened on the following weekend with special talks by various artists and performances all through out the evening.

Picture below on the right: A peek and a homage to Ekow Nimako’s Lego barn owl maquette that was set to go on display at this
year’s Nuit Blanche. The actual version of the ‘Silent Knight’ piece is sculpted with more than 50,000 Lego pieces – making this Ekow’s tribute to one of the most admired and exquisite birds in the verge of provincial extinction.

Some more snippets below before my phone froze (boo!).

Reads: “A woman’s eye can give her a powerful voice. Even when women’s viewpoints were barred in the halls of power and the channels of discourse, women photographers thrust unique perspectives into the social consciousness … Throughout history, as they struggled for the right to participate, they discovered that photography had limitations of access and technology, but nevertheless become a home for their passion and their desire for expression and communication.”
